Biography

Born in San Diego, California, Miranda has always danced since the age of 7 when ballet was part of the curriculum in the private "hippie" school she attended in the late 70's. From that point on, her only 'true' dream in life was to become a dancer. During her teen years, that dream was temporarily lost, but rekindled again in her 20's though Middle Eastern dance. Her passion for the music and art form drew her in as no other dance for had done. It felt familiar and natural.

Miranda began her studies with Luisa in San Diego and then studied with Morwenna Assaf in the Lebanese style. She was then invited to dance with Raks El Anwar Dance Co. produced by Cedar Productions and directed by Morwenna and Walid Assaf which she was part of for 5 years. It was studying with Morwenna that Miranda blossomed and learned a strong dance foundation based on Bobby Farrah's method. She became certified as a level one teacher and danced in many different venues including theaters, restaurants, colleges, Arabic weddings, hotels, instructional videos, nightclubs, corporate events and more.

Miranda specializes in traditional, authentic Middle Eastern dance forms including dances of Lebanon down through Egypt. Included are Dubke, Saiidi cane dances, playing zills and dancing with veil.

As much as she loves dancing for her fellow Americans and introducing them to 'true' Arabic dance, she loves dancing for Arabs. Their understanding and knowledge of the dance and music inspires her and pushes her to perform authentically and true to the culture.

Miranda feels happiest when she is dancing and loves to dance for an audience. "When I perform, I feel an exchange of energy. I feel such love, happiness and excitement. You can't help but send that energy back out into the audience. It's my way of giving and sharing love. It's also the way for my spirit to connects to all that is."

Miranda's dancing captivates an audience.

Miranda always dreamed of moving to a tropical island. In April, 2005, Miranda made that dream come true by moving to the Hawaiian Islands where she performs on Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island. Miranda's dream is to teach Arabic dance to children, teens and adults and perform internationally. She is on her way to accomplishing those dreams.
